Defence (Amendment) Act 2024
In accordance with the provisions of the Defence (Amendment) Act 2024, the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence signed commencement and establishment day orders bringing the External Oversight Body of the Defence Forces (EOB) into statutory being on 1 December 2024.
Terms of reference for the External Oversight Body of the Defence Forces
In addition to the responsibilities of the External Oversight Body of the Defence Forces (EOB) under the Defence (Amendment) Act 2024, the Tánaiste/Minister for Defence has requested that the EOB continue to review and report to him on items (1) - (8) and (m) of the Terms of Reference, and matters specifically prescribed as falling within the oversight of the EOB under the Strategic Framework published in September 2023.
