The completed application form should be returned to the Transportation & Infrastructure Section, at the above address, by post, fax or in person to the public counter (9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday).

Please ensure that the application form is accompanied with all the necessary documentation and the appropriate fee - as outlined on the application form.


Skip Placement Licence

If you wish to place a skip on a public roadway or footpath, you must complete an application form.

The completed application form should be returned to the Transportation & Infrastructure Section, at the above address, by post, fax or in person to the public counter (9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday).

To allow for proper assessment, the application must be made to Galway City Council at least 3 working days (excluding Saturday/Sunday and Bank Holidays) prior to the delivery of the skip. Note that your skip company will require a permit number from Galway City Council before delivering the skip.


Fee

Placement of skip on public Road/footpath or part of:

  • €10.00 per day (or part of day) per 5 metres of road/footpath space
  • Placement of skip in Pay & Display park area: €26.00 per day (or part of day) per parking space/bay

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or credit card at the Cash Office, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway.

The skip must be removed within 24 Hours of it being fully loaded.

If a skip is placed in a suburban residential estate, it must be removed each evening.

Applying for/renewing a driving licence

The Road Safety Authority has responsibility for Driving Licences.

Since 29 October 2013 the application process has changed and, when applying, you will need to visit one of the new National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) centres.
