News stories, press releases and speeches are all separate content types on gov.ie but they share many similarities.

  • news stories and speeches can include images where necessary
  • in press releases, any editors' notes must be indicated using Notes as a section heading - this indicates to the media where the news story contained in the press release ends
  • speeches must include the line Check against delivery. This means that the speech is as written, not as it was actually delivered
  • if a news story is selected as a featured story on the organisation homepage, it must have a summary box which is effective as a sub-headline on the story
