Using images on gov.ie

images are never to be used on service or policy pages. Plain English text without images is proven to be the most accessible and understandable kind of content to users
images should never be used to convey information that is not clearly explained in text
images should be uploaded in a 5:3 ratio where possible. This means that pictures in the 500 x 300 pixel (or 1000 x 600 or any multiple thereof) are rendered correctly
banner images - for example, used at the top of campaign pages - should be uploaded in a 3:1 ratio where possible. This means that pictures in the 1200 x 400 pixel are rendered correctly
images can be used in campaigns, news stories, press releases, publications and speeches
all images must contain alt-text which will be read by screen readers
