- images are never to be used on service or policy pages. Plain English text without images is proven to be the most accessible and understandable kind of content to users
- images should never be used to convey information that is not clearly explained in text
- images should be uploaded in a 5:3 ratio where possible. This means that pictures in the 500 x 300 pixel (or 1000 x 600 or any multiple thereof) are rendered correctly
- banner images - for example, used at the top of campaign pages - should be uploaded in a 3:1 ratio where possible. This means that pictures in the 1200 x 400 pixel are rendered correctly
- images can be used in campaigns, news stories, press releases, publications and speeches
- all images must contain alt-text which will be read by screen readers
