Mr Mark Kane
Mark is an independent Arbitrator, Adjudicator and Mediator. A graduate of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Griffith College Dublin/Nottingham Trent University, University College Dublin and the Robert Gordon University. Mark, among his other professional qualifications, is recognised as a Dispute Resolver and Arbitration Fellow by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and as a Mediator by the Mediators' Institute of Ireland. Mark has considerable experience sitting as decision maker in health law, protection of the public and regulatory matters, including through active membership of Preliminary Proceedings Committees and Fitness to Practise Committees of various regulators.
Ms Mary Faulkner
Mary has had an extensive career in third level education and legal professional education and training, in both the public and the private sectors, over a period of 30 years. Mary held the position of Dean of the School of Law at the Honorable Society of King’s Inns and previously served as Head of the Department of International Business, and as a Lecturer in Law at Dublin Institute of Technology (now Technological University Dublin).
Mary brings her experience as a trained investigator while at DIT and also experience in health and safety matters at institute committee level. Mary has many years’ experience of research in employment law leading to publication in the area. Mary was recently appointed to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. A graduate of UCD, King’s Inns and DIT, Mary’s academic background is in law, humanities, education and arbitration.
Dr Ruth Casey
Ruth is a senior academic in Communications and EU affairs in the College of Business in Technological University Dublin, Ireland. She has a particular interest and expertise in international partnerships, governance and quality assurance processes. She has taught across third level education in Ireland, Belgium, Russia and Egypt, and has advised on the formation, review and development of programmes and institutional structures.
Ruth previously worked as acting Head of the Department of Accounting and as acting Assistant Head of School in the Faculty of Business during the merger and transition of Dublin Institute of Technology to Technological University Dublin. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Irish Georgian Society, and serves on its Governance Committee.
Ms Ursula Byrne
Ursula is a registered general nurse, a registered midwife and a registered nurse tutor. She has extensive experience in nursing and midwifery clinical practice, education and management in Ireland, Canada and Australia. She has worked at a senior level in nursing and midwifery regulation in Ireland for twenty years, particularly in fitness to practise, registration, education and professional guidance and standards.
Ursula has also been involved in collaborative working with midwifery regulators within the EU and internationally. She was a member of the Policy Working Committee of the Network of European Midwifery Regulators (NEMIR) and European Representative on the Regulation Standing Committee of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM).
