Following nomination by SIPTU, the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has appointed/ reappointed the following members to the Board of Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council.
Shane Mc Glinchey has been a member of the National Ambulance service for 16 years. He joined the service in 2008 as a paramedic gaining a Diploma in Emergency Medicine Technology from UCD.
He undertook a Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medicine at UCD in 2012, allowing him to practice as an Advanced Paramedic.
He returned to the NorthWest region and is currently based in Killybegs Ambulance station where he is Advanced Paramedic Supervisor with responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the station.

Shane is currently in the final year of a level 8, Hons Degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
Mr McGlinchey is appointed with effect from 16 December 2024 until 15 December 2028.
Alison Smith graduated from University of Ireland, Maynooth; in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science.
In 2011 she joined the National Ambulance Service, graduating in 2013 from UCD with an Undergraduate Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology (Paramedic).
In 2016 Alison Joined UCD as an occasional Lecturer, she continues to provide a cardiac module to the Diagnostic and Imaging Students on an annual basis.
In 2019 she graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medical Science (Advanced Paramedic) and has worked with the National Ambulance as an Advanced Paramedic since. She currently works in the Wicklow area as a solo responder on a rapid response vehicle.
In 2019 Alison undertook the instructor training with the Crisis Prevention Institute and is a member of the training team in her region. She regularly facilitates the Crisis Prevention Intervention course.
Alison joined the Incident Response Team in the National Ambulance Service in 2019. With this team she has trained in Tactical Emergency Medicine, Mass Casualty management, High Consequence Infectious Disease Transfer, Maritime Ambulance Response, Clinical Decontamination and Public Order Medical Care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alison was a member of the initial home vaccination team. She was also involved in setting up local vaccination centres.
Alison trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and provides peer to peer support to her colleagues. Alison is a member of Dublin Wicklow Mountain rescue team. In 2020 Alison completed a NFQ level 8 in CISM through IT Carlow She is the Critical Incident Stress Management Coordinator for Mountain Rescue Ireland.
Alison joined the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council in May 2022. She is currently on the Quality and Safety Committee and is Vice Chair of the Education Committee.
Ms Smith is reappointed with effect from 16 December 2024 until 15 December 2028.
