Ms Martina Ryan
Ms Ryan is the Physiotherapy Services Manager in St. John’s Hospital, Limerick. She received her undergraduate in physiotherapy from University College Dublin and has had a long career history in both the public and private sectors.
Concurrent with her clinical management role, Martina served as Policy Procedure and Guideline Coordinator for seven years working with a quality assurance remit for the organisation. This position led her to complete a master’s degree in Health Service Management from Trinity College Dublin which further fostered her interest in both professional and operational accountability and regulation.
Martina was appointed to the Physiotherapists Registration Board in 2014 where she gained an insightful experience in the area of professional regulation during her three year term. She is currently completing the Health Service Executive (HSE) Leadership Academy programme at the Irish Management Institute (IMI).
Dr Julia Shaw
Dr Shaw has 39 years’ NHS Podiatry experience in management, clinical and research areas within Podiatry. She completed a PhD in 2008 at Ulster University in Belfast and has presented and published her work internationally. Julia has represented Northern Ireland in a variety of national roles including appointment as an Executive Member of the Foot in Diabetes UK and as a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion. Until retirement in 2019, as Assistant Podiatry Manager in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Julia contributed to the corporate governance framework and ensured a team of 36 Podiatrists provided high quality, safe and effective patient care complying with public sector values, codes of conduct, and accountability. She is currently a Fitness to Practise Panel Member and a Registration Assessor for the Health and Care Professions Council UK (HCPC) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Podiatry UK.
Professor Caroline McIntosh
Professor McIntosh is Chair of the Discipline of Podiatric Medicine and Head of the School of Health Sciences at NUI Galway. Caroline led on the establishment of the first school of podiatry in the Republic of Ireland successfully steering this new programme through first and subsequent professional validations. Prior to this Caroline was a senior lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, UK, and a senior podiatrist for a NHS Trust in North Yorkshire, UK where she specialised in vascular disease. Caroline has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in the field of diabetic foot disease.
Caroline has acted as Principal Investigator (PI) for a number of clinical trials. She is currently co-lead on an HRB CDA grant entitled DFD PRIMO (Diabetic Foot Disease, from prevention to improved patient outcomes) which has funded six PhD scholarships. Caroline was President of the Wound Management Association of Ireland from 2013-2015. She was Chair of the Diabetic Foot Working Group for the HSE National Wound Management Guidelines (2018) and is a current member of the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (Wound Healing Interventions). Caroline served on CORU Council from 2013-2019 and is a current member of the Podiatrists Registration Board.
Dr Éamonn Kelly
Dr Kelly is a Lecturer in Project Management, and Programme Director, at Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick. His professional experience includes working as PMO, Governance & Strategy Lead at Saolta University Health Care Group, Senior Project and PMO Manager in the Department of Communications, Energy and National Resources, Programme and PMO Manager in the Department of Environment and Programme Management Office Lead at Bord Gais Eireann.
In a career that has spanned 25 years, Éamonn has worked closely with boards and executive teams across multiple sectors to increase oversight, transparency, and accountability. As an experienced project and portfolio management practitioner, Éamonn has been tasked with delivering cornerstone initiatives that included enterprise system implementation, governance, and business/digital transformations.
Mr Noel Beecher
Mr Beecher is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Directors. He has held senior roles in the public and private sectors and within the accountancy profession. He currently works with the National Transport Authority as Chief Risk Officer, having previously held the roles of Head of Transport Investment and Manager of the Rural Transport Programme.
Noel worked for a number of years with Transport Infrastructure Ireland in the development and management of major infrastructural projects. As Chief Executive Officer, Noel managed ECCU Assurance Company Limited, the life assurance company of the credit union movement in Ireland. He held the role of Director and Chief Financial Officer for Mercer in Ireland and its associated companies and spent a number of years with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Noel has experience in the voluntary sector having held the roles of Chairperson, Director and Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee in a number of organisations involved in areas including healthcare, housing, education and training. He is currently a member of the governing body and chairs the audit and risk committee of Technological University Dublin.
