Deirdre has over 30 years’ experience working in the Health service and is currently employed as a General Manager in the Health Service Executive (HSE). Starting her career as a nurse and moving into management a decade later, Deirdre gained extensive experience in senior manager roles encompassing clinical governance, quality, safety and risk and successfully leading large scale national change.
She has a track record of exceptional service directly focused on delivering on the quality improvement and safety agenda at local, regional and national level, with specific experience of performance management and stakeholder management across large scale projects.
Deirdre has a master’s in Health Service Management, a Higher Diploma in Leadership and Quality in the Royal College of Physicians. She has been awarded several certificates including 3 in Quality and Healthcare Improvement.
David is an Economist, who has worked in the public sector in the Department of The Taoiseach and Enterprise Ireland. David subsequently has worked in the pharmaceuticals sector across Europe with GlaxoSmithKline and Viatris, and the financial services sector with NCR Corporation, across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. David is currently the Head of Policy & Market Access in Europe NW with Viatris, and is the Chairperson of the pharmaceutical Trade Association in Ireland, Medicines for Ireland. David is also a Board Member of the European pharmaceutical Trade Association, Medicines for Europe, and is a Board Member of The Irish Medicines Verification Organisation.
Carmel qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1974. She then completed a BA in Psychology in University College Dublin (UCD) in 1977 and an MSc in Psychology in Queen’s University Belfast in 1979. She has 38 years of knowledge, skills and experience working in a wide range of Clinical Psychology at all levels in the Irish health service. Carmel was responsible for the setup, development, management and governance of the Psychology Department in an area of the Health Service Executive (HSE).
Carmel was the CHO 8 lead HSE Principal Psychologist Manager for the Doctoral Clinical Psychologist Trainees in UCD and an accredited clinical supervisor. She has been a participant of the UCD and National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Course Accreditations. In addition to her work in the HSE, Carmel has served on many multidisciplinary governance groups, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Adult Mental Health, Primary Care, Disability Early Intervention and School Age Teams, Ethics Committee for the Midlands and HSE HR Working Groups.
She was a member of the Heads of Psychology Ireland Group (HPSI) and was co-author (2015-2016) of the HSE/ HR National Review Group determining Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment of Psychologists to the HSE. She was also a member of the Heads of Psychology Ireland Group (HPSI) and was co-author (2015-2016) of the HSE/ HR National Review Group determining Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment of Psychologists to the HSE. She was also a member of the Implementation Group (2016) for the Eligibility Criteria to be implemented in the HSE. Carmel retired from her position as Principal Psychologist Manager in the HSE in 2017. She works as a Clinical Psychologist and also carries out specific work on behalf of the HSE. Carmel is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland.
