Following a Public Appointments Service (PAS) campaign, the Minister for Health has appointed Ms Bernadette Costello as a member of the Health Information and Quality Authority with effect from 28th February 2020 to 27 February 2025. This appointment was approved by Minister Harris on the 2 September 2019.
Ms Bernadette Costello
Bernadette Costello started her professional career as a trainee accountant with PwC and has extensive experience in corporate governance and related areas, risk management and accounting. Bernadette Costello is a former Director of Internal Audit & Risk Management, National University of Ireland, Galway.
She has served on a number of bodies including the Board and Audit Committee of the National Treatment Purchase Fund, the Quality Assurance and Risk Committee of the Child and Family Agency (Tulsa), the Saolta University Health Care Group Audit Committee, the Council of Chartered Accountants Ireland and Audit Committee (Chair) and the Board of Accounting Technicians Ireland (Chair).
She is currently a member of the Board and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Oberstown Children Detention Campus; Board and Finance Committee of Galway and Roscommon Education and Training; and Galway Harbour Audit & Risk Committee.
Bernadette is a Chartered Director, a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Higher Diploma in Education from National University of Ireland, Galway.
Following a Public Appointments Service (PAS) campaign, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has appointed Mr Tony McNamara, Ms Lynsey Perdisatt and Professor Michael Rigby as members of the Health Information and Quality Authority with effect from 2 September 2019 to 1 September 2024.
Mr Tony McNamara
Tony McNamara was chief executive officer of Cork University Hospital for 27 years, until he retired in June 2019.
Mr McNamara has also served on various national advisory and consultancy bodies for the Department of Health, including the National Cardiovascular Strategy Group in 1998 and Comhairle na nOspideal in 2004. He was also a board member of the Irish Blood Transfusion Board, the Road Safety Authority and the Health Insurance Authority.
Mr McNamara now runs his own business, Insight Management Consultancy.
Ms Lynsey Perdisatt
Lynsey Perdisatt, B.A., PgDip (Business Studies), M.B.S. (HR Strategies) is a senior HR professional having worked in roles in both the private and public sector, gaining significant experience in employee relations, industrial relations and change management.
Prior to her appointment as Director of Human Resources and Change with the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA), she held the role of HR Manager in the HPRA/IMB and previous to that, the role of Senior HR Business Partner for Arnotts PLC. In her current role as Director of Human Resources and Change, Lynsey is responsible for the development and delivery of Human Resources and Change strategy, the design and implementation of HR solutions and the effective management of change projects that provide for the availability, effective use and engagement of human resources within the HPRA.
Lynsey is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), is an accredited workplace mediator via the Mediators Institute of Ireland (MII) and a panel member of the Civil and Public Service Mediation Service (CPSMS). Lynsey also holds a Level 7 Advanced Award in Organisation Design and Development, is an ICAGILE Certified Professional in Agile Talent and a qualified conflict Coach.
Professor Michael Rigby
Michael Rigby has extensive experience in health service development and delivery, and in research into health policy and management. Particular areas of interest have been preventive services, child health, mental health, and integrated care.
Prof. Rigby has held professorial posts in the UK, Ireland, and Sweden. He has undertaken projects with the WHO, European Commission, OECD, and European Science Foundation. He has written extensively on health research and policy, and (co)edited a number of books, most recently on Evidence Based Health Informatics and on Primary Health Care for Children in Europe, and is a member of the Roster of Experts appointed to support the new WHO Digital Health Technical Advisory Group.
