Dr Kate Robinson
Katie holds a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Trinity College Dublin (2000), an MSc in Disability Management from University College Dublin (2004) and a PhD in Occupational Therapy from the University of Limerick (2012).
Katie is currently Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy and Director of Postgraduate Research in the faculty of Education and Health Sciences at the University of Limerick. Katie has sixteen years’ experience in the higher education sector preparing allied health students for professional practice. Katie has worked clinically in acute and rehabilitation settings as an occupational therapist. Katie’s research interest include ageing research, chronic illness, the history of occupational therapy and the use of qualitative methods
Ms Derville Pitcher
Derville is an Optometrist for over 30 years. She owns and manages two Dublin-based practices and has also worked in a hospital setting in Saudi Arabia.
Derville has worked for many years as an Executive Member of the Association of Optometrists (AOI), as an elected member of the Opticians Board, and as the Irish representative at the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO).
Derville's extensive experience within the profession will help in ensuring the continuing protection of the public through the promotion of high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence through statutory registration of optometrists and dispensing opticians.
Mr Michael Moore
Michael ore qualified with a BSc Optometry from DIT in 2008. He has completed several postgraduate qualifications including a MSc in Cataract & Refractive Surgery, postgraduate diplomas in Ocular Therapeutics and Third Level Education and is completing his PhD in Refractive Error Epidemiology. Since qualifying Michael has worked across many areas in optometry having worked in all types of optometric practice from small independent practices to large multiples to ophthalmology clinics. Currently, Michael works in practice in Specsavers Stillorgan where he specialises in complex contact lens fitting and as a lecturer in TU Dublin lecturing on topics relating to ocular disease, contact lenses and law & ethics. Michael has also sat as an optometry registrant member of CORU’s Preliminary Proceedings Committee for 5 years. Michael would like to see optometry’s scope of practice develop further in Ireland and has a particular interest in shared care and ocular therapeutics.
Ms Corinne Evans
Corinne graduated from Kings College London, in 1995 with an Honours degree in physiotherapy and throughout her 25 years in practice has sustained a passion for her profession evidenced by her commitment to continuing professional development.
She has attained Gradate Diplomas in Musculoskeletal Medicine (University of Middlesex), Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Medicine and Clinical Education (NUIG) and a Certificate in Healthcare Management.
She is a professional member of numerous organisations, including Faculty of Pre- Hospital Care, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburg, Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine and the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, of which she has been a board member since 2017 and Vice President since 2018.
As a board member she has continued to advocate for members and to promote the practice of the physiotherapy profession to the general public through her engagement with numerous organisations, support groups and the media.
Her dynamic and proactive approach is evidenced by her ability to couple many her many roles-as a clinician she is committed to providing patient centred care through evidence-based practice and commitment to excellence. Along with her clinical role, she has worked as Regional Placement Facilitator with University of Limerick, lectured in the Kerry College and continues to lecture part-time in the Institute of Technology, Tralee- soon to be Munster Technological University and on the South/Southwest GP Training Scheme.
She very much looks forward to the opportunity to be a member of the CORU Physiotherapy Registration Board and hopes to grasp the challenges this role may bring with both hands!
Ms Róna McLaughlin
Róna graduated in 1995 from the University of Ulster with a BSc.(Hons) in Physiotherapy. She started her clinical career in OLOH Drogheda, moving on thereafter to work in the HSE and private practice in Dundalk, Galway, Clare and Dublin. In 1998 she moved to Sydney, Australia where she worked in a variety of public and private clinics. On her return to Ireland in 2007 Róna took up a post as senior physiotherapist in Letterkenny Primary Care before being appointed Physiotherapy Manager for Donegal Community Services, CHO1 in July 2019.
Academically Róna has been involved in clinical research projects in the University of Ulster and NUIG, where she completed a Masters in Medical Science in 2018. She also recently completed an ISORM diploma in orthopaedic and rheumatological medicine.
