From a Public Appointment Service campaign, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has appointed Mr John Horan as a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. This appointment is with effect from 17 April 2019 to 5 December 2022.
John Horan has a wide range of experiences at Senior Management and Board level. He is currently Chairperson of a State Board, having been a Director and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.
He served for more than 20 years in a variety of roles in the Aer Lingus group. He was Chief Executive of the Irish Hotels Federation for seven years and of Veterinary Ireland for ten years. He is now an Honorary Life Member of the national organisation for the Veterinary profession.
For many years he represented these sectors at Council and Board levels in a range of national and European organisations. He is an IBEC nominated Member of the Employment Appeals Tribunal and is a member of the Law Society's Complaints and Client Relations Committee.
He holds a Master of Science Degree in Management Practice from Trinity College Dublin.
