Appointment to the Physiotherapists Registration Board

The Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has reappointed the following person as a non-professional member of the Physiotherapists Registration Board. This appointment is from 17 June 2020 to 19 May 2024.
Mr Grimes is currently General Manager at University Hospital Kerry having taken up the position in September 2017 following a seven-year spell as Chief Executive at St. John’s Hospital, Limerick.
Mr Grimes has over 30 years’ experience working in the healthcare sector across many sectors and countries and now over ten years managing both voluntary and HSE hospitals. He practised initially as a physiotherapist then moved into the field of quality and accreditation before progressing to hospital management.
Mr Grimes has a special interest in quality and safety and hospital governance. He has spent terms as President of the Irish Society for Quality and Safety in Healthcare (ISQSH) and as Chairman of the Association of Hospital Chief Executives.
Mr Grimes completed his second Masters in 2017 this time in ‘Executive Leadership’, and he hopes to bring his extensive professional healthcare experience to the Board to ensure safe services for patients and best practice for professionals.
