The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has re-appointed Dr Sarah Doyle to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service with effect from 20 August 2024 to 19 August 2026.
MB BCH BAO (Hons.) Trinity College, Dublin. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). Completion of Higher Specialist Training in Public Health Medicine, 2007. Master’s degree in public health, University College Dublin 2001 (I Hons., First Place).
Having trained in General Medicine and Nephrology until 2000, Dr. Doyle then undertook higher specialist training in Public Health Medicine. She has worked as a Consultant in Public Health Medicine in the Department of Public Health in the South-East since 2007, and the newly configured Dublin and South East region since 2022. Since 2010, she has specialised in Health Protection.
Dr. Doyle’s work has involved leading regional teams in day-to-day infectious disease surveillance, prevention and control, leading outbreak control teams, responding to infectious and chemical water incidents, advocacy, audit, supporting clinical and other colleagues in prevention and control of infectious diseases, and development and implementation of guidelines.
Nationally Dr. Doyle has been leading and participating in national teams in infectious disease surveillance, prevention and control, development and implementation of national guidance, health promotion, and advocacy.
Her special areas of interest include Tuberculosis, HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), infectious intestinal disease and zoonoses, and vaccine preventable diseases.
