Appointment of Elected members to the Social Workers Registration Board

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, T.D., has appointed the following persons as members of the Social Workers Registration Board, on their election by the registrants of the designated profession, with effect from 10 August 2020 to 4 August 2024:
Ms Patricia Sheridan
Patricia Sheridan is currently a Fostering Assessment Social Worker with TUSLA – The Child and Family Agency. Her work entails the recruitment, training and assessment of both general foster carers and relative foster care applicants. This role entails a level of monitoring, risk assessment, supervision and support of foster carers and their families to ensure the provision of safe and effective placements to children in care as required under the 1991 Child Care Act and the 1995 Placement of Children in Foster Care Regulations.
Patricia has extensive experience of implementing best practice as outlined under the National Standards of Foster Care. She has previous social work experience in the areas of disability and child protection.
She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and holds a Bachelor in Social Studies. In addition, she has been involved in local policy development within the fostering service. Patricia is a practice educator and has provided mentoring, supervision, support and practice placements to social work students.
Patricia is conscious of the need for practitioners on the ground to be involved in the registration and oversight of the profession in order to improve knowledge, learning and standards of practice.
Ms Yvonne Lennox
Yvonne Lennox holds the following qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Social Policy, Master of Social Science in Social Work and Postgraduate Diploma in Practice Teaching, Supervision and Management. She has served as a Probation Officer since 2001, in this role she predominately carries out assessments of risk and supervises offenders placed on court orders.
In addition, she has actively been involved in practice and policy developments in the Probation Service through her serves on working groups, actively piloting projects and through her role as Vice Chair of the Probation Service Union Branch from 2014 to 2016.
She is also a practice educator, having provided social work placements for students of Masters in Social Work and been a guest lecture on the Master in Social Work Programme. She is an active member in the British Association of Social Work (BASW) and Irish Association of Social Work (IASW). Her current passion lies in the continued pprofessional development of the social work profession, social work practice and policy to assist in strengthening and highlighting the positive impact and contribution of the social work profession.
