The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has appointed the following persons as members of the following registration boards.
Jen qualified as an Occupational Therapist from University of Wales College of Medicine in 2000. She has worked across a range of statutory, charitable and private services in the UK and Ireland and now manages her own private practice.
Jen has extensive experience working with adults and young people across a range of clinical areas as well as experience in developing and managing people and services. Her particular areas of interest are mental health, young people and vocational rehabilitation.
Jen has postgraduate qualifications in Health Project Management and in Vocational Rehabilitation. She has presented her work at both national and internation conferences. Jen is also an active member of AOTI and is passionate about advocating for access to Occupational Therapy and promoting the profession.
Ms Trzeciak is appointed following election by the registrants of the designated profession from 10 April 2024 until 13 February 2028.
Sandra Brady is the Clinical Nutrition Manager in charge in St. James’ Hospital. Sandra graduated with a B.Sc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Dublin, Trinity College and Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics, Dublin Institute of Technology in 1990 and undertook a M.Sc. in Healthcare Management (RSCI Institute of Leadership, 2014).
Sandra moved from her position as Clinical Specialist Dietitian in Burns and Head and Neck Cancer Surgery in 2005 to take up a managerial role with a clinical remit in the National Burns Unit initially. Sandra previously worked a senior and basic grade Dietitian in St. James Hospital and in Cork University Hospital and St. Vincents University Hospital after graduation.
Sandra is a CORU registered Dietitian, an active member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) and the SCOPe Health and Social Care Professions leadership team in St. James Hospital. Sandra enjoys working with, leading and managing a large, dynamic team who are passionate about delivering a high standard of patient care and committed to improving services through innovation, audit and research.
Ms Brady is appointed following election by the registrants of the designated profession from the 10 April 2024 until 13 February 2028.
Amanda Walsh is an Assistant Professor/lecturer in Podiatric Medicine at the University of Galway. Prior to joining the podiatric medicine team as lecturer in 2010. She was a senior podiatrist working for a National Health Service (NHS) trust in Lancashire, UK where she specialised in musculoskeletal medicine, falls prevention and was a locality trust team leader. In her current role at the University of Galway she undertakes module leadership on several undergraduate teaching modules and year co-ordination. She teaches and examines students across all four years of the undergraduate programme and has been actively involved in developing inter-professional learning opportunities as a member of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) Inter-professional Learning (IPL) Working Group. Amanda is the vice chair of the university examinations appeals committee and is a reviewer for the CMNHS Board of Studies Committee. She undertakes course leadership as the programme director for the MSc Podiatric Medicine (Pre-Registration) program and is currently in the role of practice education team lead, co-ordinating and managing student placements.
Amanda’s clinical specialities include podopaediatrics and musculoskeletal medicine, whereby she is a lead paediatric specialist podiatrist, supervising students at Merlin Park Hospital Podiatry Clinic, Galway. She has also established a homeless podiatry service in Galway, providing podiatry care for the homeless population within the city and was awarded the President’s Award for Societal Impact, NUI Galway, in 2020. Since taking up post as lecturer in 2010 Amanda has been actively involved in research and has presented primary and collaborative research at conferences nationally and internationally. She is currently undertaking her PhD in Podiatric Medicine in the remit of paediatrics.
Ms Walsh is appointed from 17 April 2024 until 16 April 2028 following a PAS campaign.
Karen Fahy has extensive podiatry experience in the delivery of podiatry services in Galway. Karen leads her team at her practice in Galway and satellite clinics in Mayo. She graduated from the National University of Galway with a B.Sc. in Micrbiology and a H. Dip. in Applied Microbiology and decided to further her education with a B.Sc. in Podiatric Medicine from New College Durham and a H. Dip. In Podiatric Surgery from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Karens work and dedication to education was recognised when appointed as the first National CPD Officer for podiatry from 2011-2014 and was a member of the Podiatry Recognition of Overseas Qualifications Committee during its lifetime from 2009 to 2021.
Karen continues to lead her podiatry team and to lecture on the podiatric medicine undergraduate programme at the University of Galway.
Ms Fahy is appointed from 17 April 2024 until 16 April 2028 following a PAS campaign.
