On their election by registrants of their profession, the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly T.D., has appointed/re-appointed the following persons as members of the Radiographers Registration Board with effect from 29 March 2022 to 28 February 2026:
Originally from Co. Limerick, Ms Hogan graduated with a degree in Radiography from University College Dublin (UCD) in 1995 before commencing her career in Ireland. Working as a radiographer in the Mater and Beaumont hospitals in Dublin, Claire then moved to Cork in 2000. For 17 years she worked in another large teaching hospital, Cork University Hospital (CUH). In Oct 2018, she moved into the private sector and started working for Medica Ireland in Cork where she is currently employed. Claire has been a member of the CORU Radiographers Registration Board for four years and is passionate about maintaining high standards within the practise in the interest of public safety. With a keen interest in CPD, Claire was involved in creating a sample template which is widely used as a guidance document for radiographers. For the last year Claire has also represented the Radiographers Registration Board on the Council of CORU who are involved in Corporate Governance and Fitness to Practise (FTP) issues for all of the professions regulated by CORU. Claire has gained huge experience in this role and hopes to continue to use this valuable experience to protect the public as well as improve processes for radiographers and radiation therapists in Ireland.
Dr Leech is Associate Professor at the Discipline of Radiation Therapy, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin. Dr Leech directs the BSc. Radiation Therapy at Trinity College. Within the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) she is Chair of Blended Learning and sits on both the Scientific and Educational Councils. She is Editor in-Chief of the ESTRO Journal Technical Innovations and Patient Support in Radiation Oncology. Dr Leech also contributes to global activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), particularly in the education of Radiation Therapists. In 2020, Dr Leech was awarded the Emmanuel van der Schueren Award in recognition of excellent scientific work, enormous contribution within ESTRO to the field of education and promotion of radiation oncology as a discipline.
Eddie Conran currently works as Radiography Services Manager in Mayo University Hospital, part of the Saolta Hospital Group. He has previous clinical experience and post graduate qualifications in MRI and ultrasound. Eddie has worked across the private and public sectors in Ireland, England and Australia. He has a particular interest in the expansion of community-based radiology services.
