Following a Public Service Appointments campaign, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has appointed the following as professional members of Registration Boards:
Dr Griffin has worked as a practising dietitian in a variety of settings, including the Health Service Executive. She is a lecturer in the School of Allied Health, University of Limerick on the MSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics Programme. She has also worked as the Education and Professional Development Manager of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute.
She has worked voluntarily as the Lead of the Weight Management Interest Group of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute and has published a number of academic papers.
Dr Griffin runs her own business which provides advice on nutrition related health and disease, health policy and programme development, nutrition training and skills development to other third level institutions, healthcare professionals and other organisations.
She was awarded a doctorate in philosophy by the Dublin Institute of Technology and also has a Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Ms O’Halloran is an Occupational Therapist Manager for the HSE Community Healthcare West. In her capacity as manager her responsibilities include managing the occupational therapy service in primary care and social care in Roscommon, working with staff to offer support and motivation, acting as a point of contact for staff and clients in relation to the occupational therapy services in Roscommon and ensuring that the service complies with statutory and mandatory requirements.
Ms O’Halloran also has experience working in the Senior Occupational Therapist Stroke Rehabilitation Team in Roscommon and worked for a number of years in St Vincent’s Care Centre and the South Westmeath Community Care.
Ms O’Halloran has a Diploma in Human Resource Management and a Diploma in Lean Healthcare.
Professor McGregor is Director of Social Work at the School of Political Science and Sociology, NUI Galway. She teaches a range of subjects including social work with vulnerable children and families, childhood and children’s rights, law and human rights and cultural competence in social work. She is also a Senior Research Fellow at the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre.
Professor McGregor’s current project work is focused on subjects such as the outcomes for young people leaving care, public awareness of child protection and welfare, family support services and policy and the interface between child protection and family support practices in child welfare.
Professor McGregor has recently completed a Marie Curie Incoming Fellowship Award with Professor Robert Chaskin at the University of Chicago which involved research relating to civic and political engagement of urban youth in Dublin, Belfast and London.
She is currently an SFI investigator on a CURAM project at NUI Galway focused on impact orientation of principal investigators. Professor McGregor also lectured in social work at Queen’s University Belfast for over ten years.
Ms Kennedy is currently area manager for Tusla, in the Carlow/Kilkenny and South Tipperary regions. In this role her responsibilities include leading the development on the National Service Delivery Module and creating a single point of authority and accountability for Carlow/Kilkenny and South Tipperary. She is accountable for the overall Child and Family Agency Service in the area and must ensure that all child care statutory and regulatory obligations are complied with in the statutory regulatory framework.
Ms Kennedy has significant experience in the field of social work and has been employed in the public service since 1992. Prior to her current role she was a Child Care Manager in the Carlow/Kilkenny Local Health Office, General Manager in Community Services in Kilkenny and Principal Social Worker in the Carlow/Kilkenny Community Care Area.
Her academic qualifications include a B. Social Studies from Trinity College Dublin, an Advanced Diploma in Child Protection Welfare and an M.Sc. in Health Services Management.
Ms Gonoud is Speech and Language Therapist Manager for the HSE in the Laois/Offaly region. She has been a practising speech and language therapist since 1995.
She has a BSc in Clinical speech and language studies from Trinity College, a MSc Health Services Management and has a certificate in the specialised area of dysphagia.
Ms Gonoud is the Speech and Language Therapist representative on the HSE national technical group for national reporting of metrics and statistics and from 2016 to 2017 she was the speech and language therapist representative on the HSE National Review of Speech and Language Therapy Services.
She has been an active member of IASLT throughout her career and served on the IASLT council from 2000-2008.
Ms Healy is the Speech and Language Therapist Manager in Beaumont Hospital. She also worked for five years as the Manager of the Speech and Language Therapy Service across paediatric primary care, disabilities, adult primary care and long stay units in the Dublin South City LHO.
Prior to her management roles, Ms Healy worked as a senior speech and language therapist in many different units.
Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Clinical Speech and Language Studies from Trinity College Dublin. She also holds a Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare from the Royal College of Physicians.
Ms Healy is currently a member of the Professional Development and Ethics Committee of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists and held the position of chairperson of the association from 2013 to 2014.
Ms Moran is an experienced senior speech and language therapist who has worked for the Brothers of Charity since 2002. Ms Moran’s qualifications include a Bachelor in Science in Speech and Language Therapy from University College Cork, post graduate training in dysphagia and a Diploma in Special Needs Assistant Training.
Ms Moran has tutored on the Speech and Language Therapist BSc course in University College Cork and has presented at various conferences and training workshops. She has also facilitated various research projects by UCC, including “Core Vocabulary Approaches” and “Sentence Structure in Children with Down Syndrome” and is currently facilitating research, in collaboration with UCC, on the use of Video Modelling in Developing Play Skills in Children with ASD.
