The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly T.D., has reappointed the following members to the National Haemophilia Council with effect from 25th October 2022 to 24th October 2025.
Brian O ‘Mahony is the Chief Executive of the Irish Haemophilia Society, having previously served as Chair. He is President of the European Haemophilia Consortium and previously he was President of the World Federation of Haemophilia for 10 years. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine. He also has professional qualifications in occupational health and safety and in management and holds an assistant adjunct Professors post in Trinity College, Dublin. Among his activities are writing, advocating, facilitating training on strategic planning, national procurement systems, and lobbying. Mr. O ’Mahony has served on the Council for 18 years.
Deborah Greene has worked for the Irish Haemophilia Society since 2003. Ms. Greene is the current Administrator having taken up this role in May 2009. Ms. Greene is editor of IHS. publications and oversees event management, web design & social media, staffing and support and services to members. She is a member of the Irish Haemostasis Research Foundation and works with the World Federation of Haemophilia Twinning Programme. Ms. Greene has served on the Council for 11 years.
Ruth Gilmore was appointed following a PAS process and has served on the Council for nine years. Dr Gilmore is a Consultant in Haematology at Galway University Hospital, having previously worked at the National Centre for Hereditary Coagulation Disorders in St James’s Hospital. She holds a Masters in Medical Informatics as well as an MD on Thrombin Generation from Trinity College Dublin.
