Going Green with the OGP

As the need to urgently react to the Climate Crisis becomes apparent, government bodies must take unprecedented environmental action. The Office of Government Procurement is committed to leading the public sector in tackling climate change through public procurement. We have compiled useful information on sustainability below, and will continue to add to this page over time.

Green Public Procurement

Green Public Procurement (GPP) is a process where public authorities seek to source goods, services or works with a reduced environmental impact.

The current Programme for Government includes a number of commitments relating to public procurement, including the development and implementation of a sustainable procurement policy, updating all frameworks in line with green procurement practice, and mandating the inclusion of green criteria in all procurements using public funds.

For more information on GPP, take a look at our Green Public Procurement page.

Spotlight on OGP Green Frameworks

In December 2021, the OGP launched a new video series focusing on some of our Green Frameworks. Watch the first of these videos below!

OGP's Green Measures

On an organisational level, the OGP is undertaking a number of measures in our offices to limit our environmental impact. Take a look at our brochure below which outlines the green measures taken in all of our offices to tackle climate change. We are committed to changing the status quo to make the environmentally-friendly option our go-to.
