Limerick City FRS - Ground Investigation Works - Natura Impact Statement
RPS Consulting Engineers have been commissioned to assist in the delivery of the Limerick City and Environs Flood Relief Scheme (FRS). The objective of this project is the identification, design and submission (for planning consent) of a Flood Relief Scheme, that is technically, socially, environmentally and economically acceptable, to alleviate the risk of flooding to the Community of Limerick to a determined Standard of Protection, and to procure, manage and oversee the construction of that Scheme.

NIS for embankment repair at Durness Foynes
The proposed works are within the Lower River Shannon Special Area of Conservation (SAC code 2165)
and River Shannon and River Fergus Special Protection Area (SPA code 4077). In this regard, a Habitats
Directive Natura Impact Statement report has been prepared here. The location of the works is shown
on an accompanying maps (Figures 1 & 2).

AA Determination Statement – Embankment (E1) Repair Works at Durnish Foynes, Co. Limerick - September 2022
The proposed remedial work includes the repairs to existing c. 50m of damaged vertical stone pitching
(refer figure 3) and replacement with rock armour embankment protection on embankment E1 ch650 –
ch850 approximately. The works proposed are required to maintain the integrity of the existing
embankment at protect an identified weak point from breach during increment weather. Works will be
undertaken to coincide with low tide and suitable weather conditions
