Today (Friday 23 June), Minister for Education Norma Foley and Minister of State for the Office of Public Works Patrick O’Donovan along with distinguished guests and the community of Kanturk joined in the celebrations to officially open the new Scoil Naomh Pádraig.

Scoil Naomh Pádraig is the result of the amalgamation of St Colman’s Boys National School and the Convent of Mercy National School and was designed by the Office of Public Works (OPW) on behalf of the Department of Education. The OPW oversaw construction by Vision Contractors over a 22-month period during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Designed over three levels with sixteen classrooms and three Special Educational Needs (SEN) units, it also includes a library, general purpose hall, ball courts, play areas, set down areas and designated parking spaces over a 2.3 hectare campus.
