The Office of Public Works (OPW) is delighted to announce a series of events taking place at various locations across the country this June Bank Holiday. From history tours to art exhibitions and nature activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Step back in time at the Battle of the Boyne Visitors Centre and find out what it was like to be a 17th century soldier under the watchful eye of a Drill Sergeant.
For nature enthusiasts, the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin is providing free drop by activities for kids. Visitors can also participate in free guided tours of the gardens or for more specialised tours, the Pollinators Paradise Tour explores the phenomenon of pollination.
Brú na Boinne Visitor Centre, Casino Marino, Farmleigh and Pearse Museum are hosting art exhibitions over the bank holiday weekend. Visitors can immerse themselves in paintings and prints exploring themes of the body and public spaces, megalithic art to Japanese artists.
From skulls to severed saints’ heads, Dublin Castle is offering a specialised Art Tour that explores the ‘dark side’ of the art collection at Dublin Castle. Visitors can also take a guided Irish Language Tour of the Castle learning all about the history of the site with an experienced ISL interpreter.
Chairman of the OPW, John Conlon, said “As we approach the June Bank Holiday weekend, the Office of Public Works is delighted to invite the public to explore Ireland’s rich tapestry of heritage. Our historic sites, from ancient castles to serene gardens, offer a unique window into the past.
