Recently published data by the Office of Public Works (OPW) shows a steady increase of over 5% in the total number of women working across the organisation.
The OPW is a government office that delivers public services for flood protection, managing government properties and heritage services and employs staff in a range of jobs, such as architects, engineers, valuers, guides, and gardeners.
The OPW is committed to providing a workplace which is inclusive and embraces all aspects of diversity, including gender.
The video produced by the agency for International Women’s Day 2023 highlights the diversity of disciplines that women fulfill in the OPW from coastal engineering to botany, art history, landscaping and conservation architecture.
The OPW recently reviewed its policy to permit reduced work patterns for newly promoted staff, and plans are currently underway to review leadership development opportunities available to female staff, with a view to ensuring equality of progress across the organisation.
The OPW has embraced the new Blended Working Policy and has introduced a flexible working culture across the organisation, which offers increased work life balance opportunities for staff in roles deemed suitable for blended working patterns.
