I am delighted to be here today to launch the proposed design for the Enniscorthy Scheme which will involve significant investment in the town at an estimated cost of €44 million (excluding Vat) and which will provide flood protection to 60 residential and 162 commercial properties."

The proposed design for the Enniscorthy Scheme will be on public exhibition at Enniscorthy Library and Wexford County Council Offices from 17 May until 18 June The proposed design includes river channel widening, river deepening, bridge construction and removal, new traffic management systems and the construction of extensive glass panelled flood walls through the town.

The Minister went on to say:

“This formal statutory consultation process which is commencing today is very important and all observations from the public and interested stakeholders will be considered and responded to. Subject to confirmation of formal approval by the Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, it is envisaged that construction will start in early 2020."
