Minister Moran confirms OPW assistance for Ethiopian heritage site at Axum

Following the visit by the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to Ethiopia, Minister of State for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran TD, has confirmed that officials in Office of Public Works Heritage Services stand ready to assist their counterparts in Ethiopia in their efforts to secure World Heritage Site status for Axum.
The Department of Culture Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Fáilte Ireland will also be involved and the Minister confirmed that his officials will cooperate fully in this multi-agency approach.
The Minister said:
"I am delighted to see that Ireland’s experience in managing significant Works Heritage Sites like Newgrange and Skellig Michael is being recognised internationally and we will be more than happy to assist our friends and colleagues in Ethiopia."
