The OPW is delighted to host ‘LUSTRE and InFLUX’, an exhibition of precious jewellery and hollowware in gold, silver, platinum and gems by the graduates of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland’s world-renowned Jewellery and Goldsmithing Skills and Design Course, based in Castle Yard, Kilkenny. The exhibition showcases the high level of craftsmanship and skills honed by the students during the intensive two-year programme.
The Design and Crafts Council of Ireland Jewellery and Goldsmithing Skills and Design Course is a unique programme in jewellery education in Europe and is the only one of its kind in Ireland. The course covers design, quality production techniques and manufacture. Specialist subjects such as engraving, enamelling, gemmology, stone setting and silversmithing are taught by experts from the jewellery industry in Ireland and abroad. The emphasis on design and craftsmanship enables students to successfully progress within the industry.
The exhibition is being presented in partnership with the Office of Public Works, The National Design and Craft Gallery, The Design and Craft Council of Ireland and The National University of Ireland, Maynooth.
The exhibition runs from 28 September 2018 to 8 January 2019 and entry is free of charge.
