This unit works to ensure a ‘whole of government’ approach to digital issues. It is leading the way in developing the National Digital Strategy, which will help Ireland to maximise the opportunities that continuing digitalisation brings.
The unit also supports the Minister for Data Protection and provides the secretariat to the Inter-Departmental Committee on Data Related Issues and the Government Data Forum, which are chaired by the minister.
It also provides the secretariat to the Innovation District Advisory Group, chaired by the Secretary General of the Department of the Taoiseach. In addition, the unit supports the work of Cabinet Committee A in relation to the digital economy.
