The High Level Group (HLG) on International Education was set up in 2009 to facilitate a more joined-up national approach to the promotion of Ireland as a centre of education for international students by both public and private sector stakeholders.
The role of the HLG is to drive internationalisation through the overall monitoring and implementation of the department’s international education strategies.
The HLG meets formally twice a year (more often if necessary) and a number of sub-groups, responsible for driving specific priority actions, are also in place.
The high level group is chaired by the Assistant Secretary in DFHERIS with responsibility for international education and member organisations of the group are appointed by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
