The Strategy for Partnership with Small Island Developing States was a key commitment of Ireland's International Development Policy A Better World. It follows a period of intense consultation with SIDS counterparts on how we can work most effectively together as small islands. The SIDS Strategy reflects the breadth of areas where Ireland and SIDS already collaborate, and where we have shared interests in global outcomes. This spans collaboration at the UN and with International Financial Institutions, ensuring the best outcomes possible in working with the EU, development cooperation, especially on climate action, work with the diaspora and person-to-person linkages.
Launched at the recent Our Ocean Wealth Summit in Cork by Tánaiste Simon Coveney it forms the basis for Ireland's cooperation with SIDS for the coming years.
