Minister of State for the Office of Public Works (OPW), Patrick O’Donovan TD, today announced that the OPW and Galway County Council will make arrangements for a further period of consultation to be held on the Gort Lowlands Flood Relief Scheme following the easing of the present Covid-19 restrictions.
The Minister said,
“I am happy to provide for a further period of consultation to be held following the easing of the present Covid-19 restrictions. This further period of consultation of one month will cater for one-to-one meetings to take place with landowners and others, as required. It is important that the input of the local community and landowners to the design and delivery of this important flood relief project is secured so that it can provide much needed protection from the risk of flooding as soon as possible.”
The Minister went on to say,
”The current consultation period will end on the 3rd of April, and both Galway County Council and the Office of Public Works are anxious that observations continue to be submitted during this consultation period. As soon as possible after the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, the OPW and Galway County Council will commence the additional consultation period and notices will be placed in the local newspapers and on the project website in advance of its commencement. I look forward to further engagement with the community during this additional consultation period.”
