Minister O’Gorman announces appointment of new Secretary General

The Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, T.D., has today, 09 November, announced the appointment of Kevin McCarthy as Secretary General of his Department with effect from 19 January next. Mr. McCarthy is currently the Secretary General of the Department of Rural and Community Development, and has previously worked in the Departments of Education and Health in a number of senior roles.
The Minister said:
“I am very pleased to welcome Kevin to the Department. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from his career to date, and I look forward to working with him from January.
“I would also like to pay tribute to Dr Fergal Lynch. Fergal has skilfully guided the Department since 2015, and his advice has been invaluable to me as Minister. I wish him well in his future endeavours.”
The current Secretary General of the Department, Fergal Lynch, completes his seven-year term on 19 January.
