Second Progress Report on the Programme for a Partnership Government

Since May 2016 work has been underway on the implementation of the Programme for a Partnership Government to tackle Ireland’s greatest challenges head on and create an environment conducive to building a strong economy and to delivering a fair society.

In December 2016, the first Programme for Partnership Government Progress Report was published tracking the achievements and work underway across the range of commitments.

Since that point work on the implementation of the Programme for Government has been on-going across all Departments and this is reflected by over 200 updates outlined in this, the second progress report.

Some of the key issues progressed include:

Action Plan on Rural Development published setting out 276 actions to improve rural Ireland
Mobile Phone and Broadband Taskforce report published with actions to address gaps in coverage
New Help-to-Buy Scheme opened with 3,800 applications received
Strategy for the Rental Sector published to provide greater predictability for renters
34 Local Infrastructure projects worth €200m announced to deliver 23,000 housing units
50,000 new apprenticeships and traineeships targeted under a new Action Plan
Discussions underway on a new GP contract
430 additional Resource teachers and 115 SNAs allocated
79 schools granted DEIS status as part of new DEIS support programme launched
Publication of a new Migrant Strategy with measures to promote integration
The 2016 legacy programme ‘Creative Ireland’ launched
Extensive preparations for Brexit continue including the Second All-island Civic Dialogue on Brexit held and the recent publication of Ireland's main priorities ahead of negotiations
