The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath, and the Minister of State for Public Procurement, Ossian Smyth, today (17 August 2022) welcomed the announcement that the Office of Government Procurement (OGP) has selected a new supplier to provide the national electronic tendering service, eTenders.
eTenders is the national electronic tendering platform for the public sector. This platform advertises competitions with estimated contract values amounting to almost €20 billion annually, and has a registered user base in excess of 170,000 accounts across businesses, public bodies and others including researchers and interested members of the public. This platform is critical to the operation of Government purchasing and compliance with EU and national procurement law and policy.
Following extensive stakeholder consultation and a comprehensive tendering process, European Dynamics have been selected to provide the platform from mid-2023.
Minister McGrath welcomed the news, saying:
“I am pleased that the OGP has selected a new suppler to provide the eTenders platform. Ireland’s public procurement spend is close to €20 billion annually, and it is vitally important that this process is open and transparent.
“Through eTenders, Irish businesses, including SMEs, have the opportunity to bid for valuable public contracts. In addition, any member of the public can see what contracts have been advertised, who has been awarded them, and for what price.
“My department is reforming the public procurement process to make it effective, efficient and accountable. The signing of this new contract represents an important milestone in the government’s ongoing commitment to building transparency and public trust.”
Minister Smyth added:
“I welcome the announcement of a new supplier for the eTenders platform, which is a vital tool for public procurement in Ireland. Public procurement achieves value-for-money for citizens, while also supporting broader social, environmental, and economic progress for wider society.
"The signing of this contract paves the way for further progress in the next decade of public procurement in Ireland.
"Thanks to everyone who has been involved in this procurement process.”
The OGP will post regular updates on this webpage as part of the transition.
The OGP has selected a new supplier, European Dynamics, to provide the national electronic tendering service, eTenders. European Dynamics designs, develops, supports and operates complex IT systems and a wide range of software products in the field of eGovernment. European Dynamics supplies software products and IT services in 47 countries.
The implementation phase has just begun but buyers and suppliers should be aware that there will be no changes to the current platform during this phase, and procurement competitions can continue to be conducted as normal.
The OGP will work with all stakeholders regarding the transition to the new platform and communicate any updates as part of the transition in due course.
