The Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, Micheál Martin, today attended the British-Irish Association (BIA) 2023 Conference in Oxford.
Speaking at the Conference, the Tánaiste underlined the vital role of partnership in helping Northern Ireland achieve its full potential, echoing the approach with achieved the Good Friday Agreement. He underlined the need for restoration of the political institutions, enabling Strand One and Strand Two of the Agreement to work to their full potential.
While in Oxford, the Tánaiste is meeting the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris, and political, religious and civil society leaders from across Northern Ireland.
The annual BIA conference is an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between these islands and the continuing journey to achieve the peace and reconciliation envisioned by the Good Friday Agreement a reality.
