Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris today opened a new Enterprise Hub and an Information Hub in Tullamore, Offaly.
These hubs will ensure that learners, employees and employers will be able to access the information and help they need to meet increased skills demands in the region.
The Laois Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) Enterprise Hub will help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to identify specific skills needs in both counties.
This enables employers to invest in their workforce by providing heavily subsidised education and training programmes to their staff.
Employees can also reskill or upskill on the Skills to Advance initiative.
They can access various courses through the hub and will be able to attend them at a time that may be more suitable to them.
The LOETB Information Hub is a single location for learners to find out the details of courses and options available to them.
Here they can find out more about education and training options and supports, the links between LOETB courses and higher education or research course options either by themselves or with help.
They can also rent a space to study, research or attend an online class.
Speaking today, Minister Harris said:
"This is a really innovative and progressive education and training board.
"Today, we have opened two state-of-the-art facilities that will provide information and options to learners and employers.
"We have opened a new Enterprise Hub which will work with small and medium enterprises to identify skills needs and to enable employers to invest in their workforce by providing education and training programmes to staff at a heavily subsidised rate.
"We also opened a state-of-the-art information hub to provide learners with all the information and supports they need to access education, to upskill, reskill and to learn."
