Today Thomas Byrne, T.D., Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, opened two new digital centres, gteic Bhaile Ghib and gteic Ráth Chairn in County Meath. These centres are part of the national gteic network, which provides modern workspaces for remote workers and start-ups in the Gaeltacht.
Speaking at the events, Minister of State Byrne said:
"The opening of these gteic centres is an important step forward for the Meath Gaeltacht community. They will provide new opportunities for local people to work remotely or set up their own businesses and stay in their home community. These centres will support the economic development of Ráth Chairn and Baile Ghib and the preservation of the Irish language in the area."
The new facilities include meeting rooms, co-working spaces and a high-speed broadband connection. They are located in the heart of Baile Ghib and Ráth Chairn, two Gaeltacht communities in County Meath.
The Minister of State said:
"These two projects are great examples of how the Government is investing in the future of the Gaeltacht. Well done to everyone who was involved in the establishment of these centres, and the best of luck to those who will use them in the years to come."
Dearbháil Ní Chualáin, Director of Enterprise, Property and Engineering, Údarás na Gaeltachta, welcomed the opening of the new centres, saying:
"The opening of these gteic centres in Baile Ghib and Ráth Chairn demonstrates Údarás na Gaeltachta's ongoing commitment to the sustainable development of Gaeltacht communities. These centres will boost innovation and entrepreneurship in the area, fostering a new generation of Gaeltacht businesses and entrepreneurs."
