Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD has today encouraged people looking to change careers or take on something new to visit The Right Course for education and training options.
The one-stop shop was launched in January last year and is a one stop shop for businesses, employees or unemployed persons and outlines the third level options available to them. This can be a short part-time course, a course for an individual in employment or an option to return to third level.
The Right Course was the most viewed non-COVID campaign on gov.ie in 2021, showing the level of interest in this area.
Speaking today, Minister Harris said:
"As we start into the New Year, many of us will be considering what we want to achieve in 2022.
"There are so many options out there for people but the system is complex and can overburden some people.
"This online portal offers people a clear picture of what is on offer, how they can access it and the supports available to people also. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to confront many things for ourselves and in the Irish economy.
"Many people are seeking new careers and others realise they need new skills in their current roles. There is so much out there in our third level system and we can find something that suits you."
The one-stop shop outlines the further education and training places and the courses in higher education on offer, and information for those on a social welfare payment.
Business owners are also encouraged to explore the range of upskilling options available from Skillnet Ireland including enterprise-led business supports, targeted upskilling opportunities for employees in businesses, free online training programmes and virtual job placements.
Almost 500,000 people visited the site over the year.
