The OPW is pleased to confirm that the M4 access road and car park at Castletown House will remain operational until at least 29 September following an agreement to continue dialogue with the owner of the private lands at Castletown Estate. The planned closure of this access from tomorrow (Saturday, 16 September) will not now take place.
Visitors to Castletown House should continue to use the M4 entrance on the Barnhall Road, and we look forward to welcoming the public as usual this weekend and for the duration of the current negotiations.
The OPW is aware that the private landowners have issued a statement in relation to the matter this afternoon. The OPW is focused on the good faith dialogue with the landowners in the public interest and does not intend to comment on the details of this statement.
The OPW continues to work to achieve an appropriate outcome that is acceptable to all.
