The Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton TD, announced today (Thursday 7 April, 2016) that the Irish National Organisation for the Unemployed is to receive funding of €255,600 from the Department of Social Protection towards the delivery of information nationwide.
The INOU works at local and national level on issues affecting unemployed people. It supports local groups through services such as training, information and analysis of government policies. The INOU also participates in Social Partnership through its membership of the Community and the Voluntary Pillar.
Acknowledging the work of the INOU, the Tánaiste said:
“The INOU provides an invaluable service to many people dependent on social welfare. It provides solid appropriate advice, support, education and training to unemployed people, to enable them to avail of new job opportunities. It also plays an important role in providing its services to groups working within communities to address social exclusion.”
