Only 50 days to Brexit but there’s still time for businesses to prepare for the huge changes coming

There are just 50 days to go until Brexit happens for real - bringing massive changes to the way that companies trade with the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland).
Brexit means new customs procedures and regulatory requirements for anyone trading with the UK (excluding Northern Ireland).
Many companies still need to take the necessary steps to prepare for the start of new checks and controls on trade that come with the end of the transition period.
Fortunately, there is now an extensive range of training material and information available online on the government’s new Brexit Information Hub to help businesses prepare for Brexit and the lasting change that it will bring. And it’s all free of charge.

Brexit webinars offered by government departments and agencies are now available on the Brexit Information Hub page on gov.ie.
Businesses need to prepare now for the arrival of Brexit on January 1st, when the UK will no longer apply the rules of the EU Single Market and Customs Union.
Time is running out for businesses moving goods to, from, or through the UK (excluding Northern Ireland), to get ready and avoid disruption to their operations, regardless of the outcome of the negotiations.
An Taoiseach Micheál Martin explained:
"There are now just 50 days until the end of the transition period. Whatever the outcome of the ongoing EU-UK negotiations, Brexit will bring real and lasting change, businesses must act now to ensure they can continue trading smoothly with the UK (excluding NI) from 1st January 2021. Businesses need to assess whether they have taken all the necessary steps to prepare for Brexit. The Brexit Information Hub is an excellent support service. It provides businesses with all of the practical information, training and advice they need to get Brexit ready in one central location. Visit gov.ie/getbrexitready."
Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar added:
"This year has been incredibly tough for businesses, and now they face the arrival of Brexit. There’s still time to prepare and make sure that you and your business are ready for the huge changes coming on January 1st. This new Brexit Hub is a very useful resource for Irish companies providing training and lots of information. We’ve already launched the Brexit Readiness Checker to help companies see what steps they need to take to prepare. And the Brexit Hub can help them to get the training or the information they need take the final steps. I urge businesses everywhere to be as prepared as they can be for Brexit, because now it’s really happening."
Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney concluded:
"I urge businesses who have not yet finished their Brexit planning to do so now. We understand this is a complex issue particularly for small business. However, your ongoing ability to operate will be severely hampered if you are not ready for the changes coming on 1st January 2021. This new hub will enhance training and upskilling for all whose business relies on moving goods, from to or through the UK (excluding Northern Ireland)."
