Appointment of Chair and members to RTÉ Board

Catherine Martin, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, today (5 March 2024) confirmed the appointment of Terence O’Rourke as the new Chairperson of the Board of RTÉ.
Speaking today, Minister Martin said of the new Chair:
“Terence O’Rourke has gained vast experience at executive level having served as Managing Partner with KPMG Ireland as well as serving on the firm’s Global Management Team. He also brings a wealth of non-executive board experience, including chairing both Enterprise Ireland and the ESB.”
The Minister confirmed that she intended to meet with the new Chair later this week.
Speaking after confirmation of his appointment, Mr. O’Rourke said:
“I am honoured to be appointed Chair of the RTÉ Board. RTÉ’s public service role across news, current affairs and beyond is arguably more important today than ever. I look forward to working with the Board and Director General in charting the future for RTÉ, and to working with the Minister and Government to establish a stable footing for the organisation.”
Minister Martin also confirmed the appointment by Government of Ms. Terri Moloney, a Human Resources professional, and Dr. Neasa Hardiman, an award winning executive producer, director and writer, as members of the Board, stating:
“All three new members bring with them a range of experiences and attributes which will enable the Board to continue its important work of delivering further reform at RTÉ, whilst also driving new strategies to bring the organisation forward and continue to deliver high quality public service content for Irish audiences."
Chartered Accountant and former Managing Partner with KPMG Ireland until 2013, and of KPMG Global Executive Team. Former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. Current Chair of ESB, and Former chair of Enterprise Ireland, and the IMI and former Board member of the Children’s Health Foundation and the Irish Times. Currently Board member of The Hugh Lane Gallery, the Irish Film Institute and Hibernia Reit PLC.
Senior Director of HR, Strategy and Operations in Salesforce Ireland 2015-2022 and previously Head of HR in Boston Scientific (2013-2015) and HR Director in Hilti. She has a degree in Personnel Management, an MSc in Training and Performance Management and a Diploma in Company Direction. She is a Non-Executive Board member of Enterprise Ireland and a member of the Audit & Risk Committee at UCC. She chaired the Dublin Regional Skills Forum 2021-2023.
An IFTA and BAFTA winning Executive Producer, Director and Writer (including for Happy Valley) who has worked with Netflix, Amazon, Disney and Hulu as well as public service broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, RTÉ and TG4. Holds a PhD in Film Studies and will shortly obtain a Diploma in Generative AI from UCD. Currently on the Board of Trinity College Dublin, the Irish Film Institute, the Dublin International Film Festival and Screen Skills Ireland.
