This International Women’s Day, the Office of Public Works (OPW) showcases the achievements of its female workforce by providing a snap shot into ‘a day in the life’ of various roles within the organisation.
The short videos produced for International Women’s Day 2024 take a snapshot of some of the roles, undertaken by women, within the OPW. These women are relatable, their work is accessible, their success is achievable and their grade is attainable. These women reflect positive change in the workplace, where women are making a difference. The qualities they showcase are leadership, progression and flexibility in the different stages of life and creativity.
The OPW is a vital service provider for Government working across estate management, heritage services and flood protection. OPW employs administrative, operational and technical staff such as architects, engineers, valuers, guides, gardeners, chefs, and craftspeople.
Drawing upon this year’s theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’, the OPW is committed to providing a workplace that is inclusive and embraces all aspects of diversity, including gender.
The OPW recently reviewed its policy to permit reduced work patterns for newly promoted staff, and plans are currently underway to review leadership development opportunities available to female staff, with a view to ensuring equality of progress across the organisation.
The OPW has embraced the Blended Working Policy and has introduced a flexible working culture across the organisation, which offers increased work life balance opportunities for staff in roles deemed suitable for blended working patterns.
