Minister for European Affairs Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, today attended the annual EU Technical Support Instrument Conference in Brussels. The Minister participated in a panel discussion on EU Reform into the future.
The conference brought together high-level speakers and panellists from EU Member States, EU Institutions, and other international organisations, to discuss the EU’s current and future support for reform among Member States.
The Technical Support Instrument provides support to Member States for their institutional, administrative and growth-enhancing reforms.
Reflecting on the importance of the TSI during the turbulent times which Europe is facing, Minister Carroll MacNeill said:
“The dramatic events and crises of recent years have required governments across Europe to be innovative in our policy responses. They have also taught us to expect the unexpected, so it is important that we remain flexible to deal with new challenges but also to anticipate the future environment so we can better prepare for unforeseen events.”
Minister Carroll MacNeill also said:
“Ireland, in common with other member states, has hugely benefitted from the assistance provided under the Technical Support Instrument. This funding, and expertise, has helped us in many key policy areas such as public administration, better regulation, and the health and education sectors.”
