Autumn Legislative Programme published

Government Chief Whip Jack Chambers has today published the Legislative Programme which contains 38 bills for publication and priority by Ministers for the forthcoming autumn Oireachtas session.
The programme has been approved by Cabinet and is published following engagement and consultation with government departments, officials and the Office of the Attorney General.
Chief Whip Jack Chambers said:
“I welcome the decision by Cabinet to approve the Government Legislation Programme. This an ambitious schedule of important bills across a range of areas including housing, health, environment and social protection which will ensure the country can respond to the immediate challenges we face as well as further delivering on the commitments contained in the Programme for Government.”
Legislation to support and assist people from the cost of living and energy challenges being faced will be prioritised by Government this term, including the passage of Finance Bill and the Social Welfare Bill to give effect to the changes delivered in the Budget.
Minister Chambers added:
“Budget 2023 will be a cost of living budget which will be focussed on protecting and supporting households, families and businesses right across the country, while also ensuring our economy can continue on a course of growth and recovery.
“In housing, we will prioritise the Planning & Development Bill and the Land Value Sharing and Urban Development Zones Bill to ensure the continued delivery of house building as committed to the in Housing For All Plan.
“In health, the Human Tissue Bill to update organ donation and transplantation procedures will very shortly be published while the Public Health (Tobacco and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Bill and the Health (Termination of Services Safe Access Zones) Bill will also be prioritised.
“Other bills for prioritisation this term include the Work Life Balance Bill, Right To Request Remote Work Bill, Gambling Regulation Bill and the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Saving System Bill,” he added."
In addition, work will continue on the development, drafting and progression through the House of all other bills and not just those on the priority list.
