New member appointed to Sport Ireland Board
The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, and the Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne, have today announced the appointment of a new member, Liz Joyce, to the Board of Sport Ireland.
Commenting on the appointment, Minister Martin said:
“I am delighted that Liz has agreed to join the Board of Sport Ireland. Her wide experience and skills will be hugely beneficial to Sport Ireland and its ongoing work in the development of Irish sport over the coming years.”
Minister Byrne said:
“I want to congratulate Liz on her appointment and I wish her well for her term on the Board. She is filling an important position on the Board and I have no doubt that her experience will add value to Sport Ireland’s work in the development of Irish sport.”
The appointment follows a public call for applications on the State Boards website and an assessment process managed by the Public Appointments Service.

Liz Joyce is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Executive Coach with core capabilities in organisational effectiveness and development, people and culture leadership, governance, and transformation. She has held senior leadership or board level roles in FMCG, Infrastructure, Financial Services, Central Banking/Financial Regulation, Food Processing, the international and national NGO sector and a major national sporting governing body. She is a Chartered Director (CDir) and has also recently been appointed as a non-Executive Director of Gas Networks Ireland.
