Today’s release of Israeli and Thai hostages held in captivity by Hamas is a welcome relief for them and their families. It is also an important moment in the continuing ceasefire.
I warmly welcome today’s developments and urge all concerned to meet their commitments under the ceasefire and hostage release deal.
I also welcome the increased levels of aid reaching Gaza. This needs to continue at speed. We need to see a return of basic services, the provision of shelter, and a clear framework under which those who have been displaced by the conflict can return.
All remaining hostages must be released and reunited with their families.
