Minister Donohoe’s virtual Programme of St. Patrick’s Day 2021 international engagements

As part of a broad programme of virtual events in recognition of the St. Patrick’s Day Season, and in order to engage with our economic partners, and the Irish community and diaspora abroad, Minister Donohoe was delighted to accept invitations to participate in a number of virtual events in and around St. Patrick’s Day. These events spanned London, New York, Paris and Washington and included:

a virtual event organised by the Consulate General of Ireland in New York as part of its St. Patrick’s Day programme, in partnership with the New York chapter of the European American Chamber of Commerce (11 March)
a virtual roundtable event hosted by IDA Ireland and attended by U.S International Financial Services Clients (16 March)
a virtual meeting on St. Patrick’s Day with the United States Secretary of the Treasury, Janet L. Yellen (17 March)
a virtual reception jointly hosted by the Embassy of Ireland to the United Kingdom, London, CHAMP organisation, which promotes peace and reconciliation through East-West and North-South political links, and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Ireland and the Irish in Britain (17 March)
a virtual event organised by the Permanent delegation of Ireland to the OECD in Paris as part of its St. Patrick’s Day programme billed as: ‘A conversation between the Minister for Finance of Ireland and Chair of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe TD, and the Secretary General of the OECD, Angel Gurría’ (22 March)

Minister Donohoe said:

"St. Patrick’s Day offers an unparalleled opportunity for Ireland to reach out and engage with everyone from world leaders and our own diaspora to those who do business with Ireland and those who one day hope to, across the world and to send a message of how proud we are of everything our small country has achieved and how big our plans are for the future. Ordinarily these meeting take place face to face, presenting the Irish Government with the chance to engage in a way that is unmatched by any other country on any other national day. This year, in a bid to mark St. Patrick’s Day in the best way possible despite COVID-19, virtual meetings have been organised so that we can connect with global leaders, investors, the Irish overseas and those with an affinity for our country to convey a message of support, cooperation and friendship on this very special day.
