A yearly allowance of €100,000 will be provided under the process to support a language plan in the area.

Approving the plan today, Minister of State Chambers said: “As a result of the approval of the East Galway City language plan under the language planning process, the plan will be implemented without too much delay. The Language Planning Comittee will be able to employ a Language Planning Officer to implement the plan in the area. This is a huge step foward for the area and for the language planning process in Galway. I am certain that the area’s community will benefit from the significant annual funding that will be provided for the next seven years to aid the successful implementation of the plan. I would like to congratulate the Language Planning Committee of An Bruach Thoir on all the work they have done to date to reach this point and I wish them every success with the implementation of the plan in the next phase”.
