This page outlines how people access public water and wastewater services provided by Irish Water.
Approximately 81% of the Irish population get their drinking water supplies from Irish Water, the national water services utility. If your water does not come from a private well or a local group water scheme (a community-run scheme) it is likely that you are an Irish Water customer.
About two-thirds of households use Irish Water’s sewerage services. If your house does not have a septic tank or other domestic wastewater treatment system, and is not part of a group sewerage scheme, then it is likely you are an Irish Water customer.
Further information on Irish Water is available on its website.
