This information is to help you understand and help you prepare for an upcoming change of accommodation arrangements.
You have been moved to temporary short-term student accommodation. The duration of your stay in temporary student accommodation was for a maximum of 3 months, but could also have been shorter. Over the coming weeks, universities and colleges will open again for students. This means you will be required to move out of this accommodation to another temporary accommodation. You will be informed of the details of your transfers in August 2023.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability Integration and Youth is working with other Government Departments, Local Authorities and accommodation providers to make this move out of temporary student accommodation as easy and efficient as possible.
If you are a new arrival into Ireland, information is available at: information for people arriving from Ukraine.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth is responsible for the provision of initial short-term accommodation to BOTPs, fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. In line with the provision of this short-term accommodations, BOTPs must adhere to the Department’s policies, available at: Ukraine Crisis Temporary Accommodation Policies.
At the end of the summer, universities and colleges will open again for students and you will move to another short-term accommodation. This may not be in the same location as your current accommodation and may not be of a similar standard. In light of this challenging situation, you may wish to consider taking up an offer of accommodation pledged by a member of the Irish public. In many cases, the Irish Red Cross and the Local Authority will be available to help people find pledged accommodation. We strongly urge you to consider this option as the locations and quality of accommodation is known. This may assist you to remain in your current area. If you are in a position to do so, you can of course find accommodation privately at your own expense, or using the supports available to you from the Department of Social Protection.
We understand that this may be difficult for you and your family. Unfortunately, in the current circumstances, where the State is seeking to accommodate a large number of people with a limited supply of accommodation, it is necessary to ensure that everyone who seeks it, can have safety and shelter.
Thank you for your co-operation.
